Job Description

Cambridge Halls Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate School Guidance & Counseling Officer to join our dedicated team of educators. This role will play a critical part in providing support to students, parents and teachers by creating a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes mental and emotional wellness.

Responsibilities

The School Guidance & Counseling Officer will be responsible for providing counselling, support and guidance to students, families, and teachers. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing programs and services to address student needs, such as personal, social, and academic counselling, crisis response, and college and career planning.

• Provide individual and group counselling to students, addressing a wide range of issues, such as academic and personal challenges, social and emotional development, and mental health concerns.
• Develop and implement programs and services to address student needs, such as personal, social, and academic counselling, crisis response, and college and career planning.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies to identify students in need of support and develop appropriate interventions.
• Work with teachers and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success.
• Provide training and support to teachers, parents and students on various topics such as mental health, drug and alcohol prevention, bullying, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain confidential records of student counselling sessions and develop reports to track progress and impact.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Guidance & Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
• Licensure as a Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist is preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a school counselling or related field
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing programs and services to address student needs

Skills & Knowledge:

• Knowledge of theories and practices of individual and group counselling, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed care
• Knowledge of child development, mental health, and learning differences
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the counselling profession
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and online counselling platforms
