Lighting Product Design Engineer

Ford is seeking an experience Electrical, Mechanical, orsimilar engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and release lighting components.

The candidate will interface with several functional areas to ensure thecomponents are developedto customer expectation and Ford requirements.

n n n nResponsibilitiesProfessional position utilizing engineering education and experience to design and release body lighting systemsWill be responsible for all phases of engineering from design concept to production releaseWill work with Design Studio and CAD designers to develop 3D CAD models which meet appearance and functional requirementsWill utilize design methodologies / tools such as CAE / CAD (Catia v5), GD&T, etc.

to develop efficient designs which meet customer expectationsWill ensure designs meet tooling and manufacturing feasibilityWill validate designs through the Ford DV process, resolving all issues in a timely mannerWill provide design support / issue resolution of all launch issues associated with lighting components and subsystemsBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related degreePreferred Qualifications2+ years of experience designing and developing interior lighting systemsClear understanding of Design and Release task / process for in house designed lighting systems or applicable electrical component developmentComprehensive knowledge of lighting attribute targets, package and tooling feasibility, material analysis, Design Rules, SDS requirements, DFMEA, FMA, and DV / PV testingWorking knowledge of interior cockpit / trim subsystems and vehicle electrical architecture (including electrical distribution system (EDS), connectors, wiring attachment methodology, etc)Comprehensive knowledge of lighting validation process and pass / fail criteria including cycle and material testingUnderstanding of product development and related deliverables at the OEM levelDemonstrated capability of working with CAD designers for in-

house designed lightingInjection Mold and Electronics manufacturing experience preferredExperience in optics and designing with LEDs preferredExcellent communication, team building, and leadership skillsJoin our team as we create tomorrow!
