General Responsibilities

Market Sales Manager - VAS - San Francisco

As a Market Sales Manager, you are the driving force in generating sales revenue, as you manage the employee results in the high volume fast paced Hertz Local Edition rental car market. You will optimize the Branch performance through training, coaching and mentoring for sales effectiveness. In addition, you will direct the entire counter sales process, pricing, fleet sales strategies and much more.

The job is one of an engagement leader. To be successful, this will be key. You will be required to engage and develop all levels of Branch employees. You will be required to engage managers who will help support the sales efforts operationally. You will work with and engage the General Manager and Zone General Manager as they lead the area. You will be working closely with the Director HLE Value Added Services.

Mandatory Requirements

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree required

Professional Expeience:

  • Sales experience required

  • Previous supervisory or management experience

  • Prior experience in driving frontline sales preferred

  • Experience in sales, customer service, leadership/development, training

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven sales record and performance leadership

  • Engagement leader with the Sales and Service Associates, Management Trainees, Manager Associates, Branch Managers, Area Managers, General Managers, and the Director Value Added Services.

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills

  • Persuasive and motivational communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically: Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Ability to create, develop and implement motivational sales training and sales programs

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Time management skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and act with a sense of urgency

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maximize counter sales revenue.

  • Ensure field level employee completion of all training relative to counter sales within the markets.

  • Train Branch and Manager-Associate Level 2 in Outside-Sales strategies, dialog and approaches.

  • Follow up with local management relative to effective in-the-field-sales-calls.

  • Develop and execute effective inside and outside sales strategies in conjunction with local management teams.

  • Team up with local management to develop Net Promoter Score improvement strategies relative to "Staff Helpfulness" and "Car Cleanliness" marks.

  • Train, coach and motivate counter level employees through individual and group sales initiatives.

  • Communicate sales opportunities to the front line along with account activities.

  • Assess operational production to achieve peak performance.

  • Review sales results and apply strategies to obtain business objectives.

  • Complete all reports related to mapping sales performance.

  • Work with the Director, HLE Value-Added Services and the Zone General Manager(s) to execute the business plan.

  • Identify and recommend necessary actions to improve low performance.

Daily/Weekly/Monthly Tasks:

  • Communicate daily sales opportunities to the front line

  • Assess operational strategies to achieve peak performance

  • Review sales results and apply necessary strategies to obtain business objectives

  • Monitor individual sale performance and strategize throughout the day

  • Complete all reports related to mapping sales performance

  • Set Frontline counter goals and monitor daily performance

  • Complete verbal and written coach sessions

  • Work directly with Director Value-Added Services, Zone General Manager, General Manager, Area Managers and the local management teams to execute action plans

  • Monitor, coordinate and take daily actions on product pricing based on vehicle demand

  • Identify and recommend necessary action to improve low performance
