Title: Senior Network Engineer
Duration: 6+ months
Location: Kansas City, MO
This is a senior network engineering position. The position is responsible for cost justifying new system purchases, implementing projects, leading projects, and for the analysis and repair of network infrastructure including daily support and maintenance.
o Evaluate the network for performance, scalability, and security.
o Provide recommendations to network configurations and topologies to improve operational performance.
o Review current network configuration to identify and mitigate major risk areas.
o Define and maintain Network operations processes and procedures.
o Define and maintain Service and Operational Level Agreements and report compliance to management.
o Define and maintain Network build standards and processes.
o Define and maintain Disaster Recovery processes and procedures.
o Technical consultant, representing network infrastructure in assigned projects.
o Assist Associate members and Service Desk Technicians with questions and problems.
o Keep abreast of technical changes that would benefit the Network Engineering team.
o Strict adherence to policy, processes and change control.
o Update Network Operations Documentation as it pertains to assigned servers and services.
o Recommend and implement updates and upgrades.
o Take a leading role in regularly scheduled maintenance and upgrades to Network devices.
o Keep manager informed of work status, problems or potential problems.
o Continue education in an applicable area of the network.
o Participate in On-Call rotation.
o Work across multiple teams and vendors to troubleshoot complex issues.
o Requires 10+ years of Network Engineering experience.
o Certifications in a combination of Cisco (CCNA), F5, Palo Alto (PCCSA), or Aruba (ACMA).
o Associates degree or comparable technical degree.
o Working experience and knowledge of the following: TCP/IP, BGP, SIP, and MPLS.
o Specific knowledge of Cisco networking products including Nexus switches and Meraki Appliances.
o In depth experience F5 BIG IP Load Balancers, specific with GTM, LTM, and APM.
o In depth experience with Palo Alto Firewalls.
o In depth experience with design and implementation of wireless architecture, preferably Aruba.
o Ability to utilize network capture output to troubleshoot application performance issues.
o Ability to work directly with 3rd party service delivery partners for successful network deployment and operations.
o Good self-direction and follow-through.
o Can research and present solutions and alternatives.
o Good problem-solving skills.
o Service oriented.
o Communicates well with users, team and management.
o Ability to work with various personality types.
o Handles stressful situations in a calm manner.
o Good organizational skills and record keeping skills.
o Willing to put in extra time as needed.
o Willing to work evenings and weekends on an on-call basis.
