BUSINESS CONTEXT AND MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Deodorants is one of Unilever’s most successful and exciting categories. It’s a category we invented and have been the leaders and innovators of ever since. We have the strongest global brands and an innovation and technology pipeline that would be the envy of any FMCG company. Asia is a key region for the future of Unilever Deodorants success and we have significant leadership markets in the region with our 3 powerhouse brands; Rexona, Axe as well as Dove all playing a key a role. The region has strong competition and exciting threats and opportunities to tackle, whether global brands or local players, all play a part in making working in Deodorants in Asia a dynamic place to be. This role will work with the BG marketing team in Singapore on brand and category projects to deliver the consumer learning needed to win in the market. The successful candidate will report into the Rexona deodorants lead based in London, and in addition to working on Asia innovation and communication projects will take a key role in global market development understanding. This is a unique opportunity to develop experience and expertise in innovation, communication and strategic research and to become the trusted partner for the marketing teams. Think you have what it takes? If so, read on! KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Builds strong relationships with the marketing team and partners across all research projects
  • Distils insight from primary and secondary research and provides clear insights and recommended actions
  • Builds knowledge of key markets, categories and consumers to inspire and inform projects
  • Develops own research skills, making full use of: CMI Gym, CMI Guidelines tools and templates, Training opportunities, Coaching/mentoring from line manager and within the CMI community
  • Builds own understanding of key business processes e.g. Category / brand strategy, Integrated Brand Planning (IBP), Innovation and Renovation (IPM), Communication (IBC)
  • Manages relevant IT tools as required (including agency systems, GMI, GTS and People World)
  • Partner with the People Data Centre to understand social listening/impact of influencers/etc
  • Build knowledge of past market development initiatives and understanding to become the expert partner for category development.
  • Extract, analyse and interpret and synthesise in to a clear and compelling story that drives action – for ad hoc projects or regular business processes.
  • Support initiatives outside of project work to unlock growth opportunities to create excellent content.
    • Lead/support global or divisional workstreams as required, through Past learnings, Best Practices, External Orientation, Landscape and Competitor Analysis, e.g. category and Hotspot Analysis etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ year experience
  • Experience in the research & insights world is necessary.
  • Good communication and presenting skills
  • Basic understanding of market research
  • Interest in human behaviour / psychology, curiosity is key
  • Able to lead projects
  • Basic analytical skills
  • A team player; accountable, open minded who likes to work in rapid and agile way
  • Strong project management skill
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver pipeline of innovations research across brands and workstreams
  • Good analytical thinking and communication skills to present clearly, simplify complex topics and influence decision-making
  • At ease in a facilitation role – helping to stimulate idea generation, thriving to co-create ideas together with marketing
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a virtual and global team
  • A positive attitude and can-do outlook to keep the agency teams motivated and inspired to work with the team
  • Develop work which is fact-based rather than fact-filled, focusing on recommendations and outcomes
