POSITION PURPOSE

Trade Services Middle Office in Singapore supports all Trade Financing activities of clients of BNP Paribas, Singapore Branch. The team handles the processing of Import, Export, Guarantees and Supply Chain transactions.

A Trade Service Officer engages with the client to provide a positive client experience and is responsible to process Trade Finance transactions in a timely and efficient manner. Other than the direct client interaction, the role also requires candidate to co-ordinate with Business and Functions during the course of their daily activities.

Direct Responsibilities

  • Liaise and coordinate with the back office to ensure smooth processing of transactions within the set turnaround times.
  • Liaise with Marketing Officers and Risk whenever necessary regarding solutions for adhoc transactions touching on customer’s risks and commitments or irregular transactions.
  • Handle internal and external customers’ inquiries effectively and provide advises on trade products
  • Initiate and input transactions as and when required.
  • Verify and approve transactions within his/her authority level as and when required
  • Ensure that all transactions and tasks assigned are processed/carried out in accordance with the operating/compliance procedures.
  • Look into customers’ / correspondents’ complaints in liaison with Team Manager.
  • Ensure appropriate escalation to management and/or permanent control (or complianceas appropriate) as soon as an issue is identified.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Bank’s operational permanent control framework to uphold operational excellence
  • Minimize operational failure, including but not exclusively the risk of fraud by helping to devise and by implementing sufficient regular controls
  • Perform any other duties delegated by Team Manager from time to time.
  • Comply with internal and external regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Comply with the BNPP standards of Code of Conduct
  • Comply with the BNPP IT Security policies
  • Anti‐Money Laundering / Financial Sanctions “AML/FS”) related duties: Operations are an integral part of the control framework including for AML/FS topics. In that respect, in performing your role, you are expected to ensure adherence to AML/FS‐related Group Policies and execution of associated operational controls, and to promptly escalate any resulting hit for analysis and decision.

TECHNICAL & BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES
  • Preferably at least 2-years of experience in handling Trade Import / Export / Supply Chain financing / Guarantee
  • Client service oriented
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meticulous, efficient with good analytical and follow up skills.
  • Ability to multi task and work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of Compliance and AML topics
  • Working knowledge of ICC Rules relating to Documentary Credits/Collections/Guarantee and SBLCs.
  • Good PC knowledge and skills - MS Word, Excel
