Position : Senior Program Manager

Position Overview

The Kaizen Company (Kaizen) seeks candidates for a full-time Senior Program Manager position. The candidate will provide general oversight of USG-funded project(s) in the areas of HO/FO operations and communication, procurement and compliance, and budgeting and financial reporting. Candidates should have advanced project management experience on USAID-funded projects, excellent oral and written communication skills, and an interest in guiding and mentoring junior staff working in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Illustrative responsibilities and qualifications for this position are listed below:

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operational backstopping for a portfolio of projects (1-5 depending on size and scope) including budget management, financial and contractual compliance, personnel and subcontractor management, and liaising with the client and partners on operational issues
  • Attend regular meetings with Home Office, Field Office, and Sr. Leadership to ensure consistent strategic monitoring of projects
  • Supervise the development of necessary manuals, guidelines, and trainings based on the needs of the Program Management Unit (PMU)
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Provide review and approval of contractual and administrative deliverables as needed
  • Contribute to and support program technical work, work plans, and M&E plans
  • Serve as acting Project Manager when needed
  • Contribute to select Kaizen strategic initiatives and projects including Kaizen's innovation design and testing activities, improving knowledge management and human resource development, and providing input into strategic decisions
  • Support Kaizen's proposal development efforts (as needed), including personnel recruitment, proposal coordination and management, writing sections of the technical proposal, preparing cost submissions including budgets, and liaising with partners

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree and six years of directly relevant professional experience OR eight years of directly relevant experience, at least 2 of which include leading project management of large USAID-funded programs
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity of USAID/OTI programs a plus
  • Demonstrated capacity for managing multi-year program budgets, and familiarity with FAR, AIDAR and ability to learn other USG regulations that apply to Kaizen's current and upcoming initiatives 
  • Advanced knowledge of excel-based budgeting and financial reporting is required
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel 15-20%
