We are seeking a highly skilled, Contracts Administrator who plays an integral role as part of the Contracts and Legal Team. The Contract Administrator works independently and is responsible for preparing, reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts from proposal stage to execution. The position works closely with project leads and managers across the organization and requires minimal supervision and guidance on understanding legal terms and conditions, contract risk structures, business terms, intellectual property, and provisions. The position works collaboratively with other departments across the organization to promote compliance with policies and procedures, and corporate risk standards. The Contracts Administrator fosters close working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders and acts as liaison between clients and project leads to ensure timely and efficient management of contracts and legal commitments.

Job Details

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiation and management of contracts in accordance with the organization’s risk profile.
  • Handles a large volume of contracts, where most contracts are complex non-standard contracts(Collaborations Agreements, Joint Industry Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Service Agreements) with external clients/industry partners.
  • Acts as a liaison between clients and project leads and works closely with others across the organization in providing assistance and guidance on contract matters.
  • Viewed as an expert in contract review and has a sophisticated level of understanding of contract risk structures and contract provisions.
  • Fosters close working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders
  • Works collaboratively with a team of diverse and experienced contracts and legal experts
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and corporate risk standards

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business or Legal Administration
  • 7 years+ of progressively responsible contracts and legal experience; supervisory experience will be considered an asset.
  • Must have strong business acumen and be familiar with contract and business law, insurance and risk management and reviewing legal terms and conditions.
  • Experience working with legal templates.
  • Have exposure to working with government, academic institutions, and industry.
  • Possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple time sensitive projects.
  • Strong attention to detail is highly important with the ability to provide accurate, error free documents.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adept negotiation, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Confident, solutions-driven, adaptable.
  • Ability to lead and direct others.
  • Display a positive attitude, initiative and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Must be a team player and show willingness to learn.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; and is familiar with database contract management system.
